BC Men's Soccer Extends Streak to Four Against CCNY

Bulldogs Remain Unbeaten At Home and Conference After Win Over Beavers

BROOKLYN, New York ------ Coming into Senior Day during today's conference matchup, the Brooklyn College men's soccer team looked to continue their perfect pace, winning their last three matches after tying their first conference match of the season. Seniors Sadeek Brown, Benedick  Augustin, Nikala Metreveli, Samuel Salinas, and Iakob Berishvili would be honored prior to the game. In their way was a City College of New York Beavers side that was looking to spoil the celebration by ending the Bulldogs' undefeated stretch at home and in the conference. Fortunately, Brooklyn College would not let that happen, defeating City College by a score of 3-0.

The Brooklyn College Bulldogs (9-4-1, 4-0-1 CUNYAC) stay undefeated in the conference, extend their win streak to four, and will end up winning all seven games played at home. Meanwhile, the City College of New York Beavers (0-8-4, 0-2-2 CUNYAC) continue to search for their first conference victory to move up in the standings.

The Beavers would push the attack on offense early on, putting the pressure on the Bulldogs' Wilson Munoz very early on in the game. However, Munoz would respond with 3 of his 7 saves in the 7', 14' and 15' diving on shots at the bottom left, center and right respectively to keep it even at 0-0.

Brooklyn would strike first on the scoreboard, as Clermens Devariste would start the attack from the left side, outrunning his defender and kicking a through pass to Nikala Metreveli in the box from the left wing for a shot that would be blocked. Emir Imamberdiev would then attempt a header that would clash into the top woodwork, bouncing off to Devariste who would quickly find Metreveli for a quick heel tap, allowing Imamberdiev to kick from the right side of the box to finally put it away for the 1-0 score at 18'.

With tensions high, the Bulldogs needed to create some distance. In an unlikely moment, Navruz Asatullaev would send a service into the box, allowing Metreveli to intercept the Beavers defense attempting to clear the ball, kicking the ball to reset outside the box, only for Andrew Gavrilov to launch a rocket into the back of the net for the 2-0 score at 40'. Metreveli would end up with 2 assist to go with 3 shots, one on target.

CCNY would come out strong right out of halftime, as Munoz would reach up for a shot at the top left of the goal, just tipping it away with his glove for a corner at 54'. It would not stop there, as CCNY continue to apply pressure on this particular corner, shooting yet another hard shot that would force Munoz to dive to his right and send it to a corner kick again just seconds later.

The Bulldogs would widen their margin as Adam Moharam would stay on his feet to dodge an incoming defender, kicking a beautifully put through pass for Gavrilov's second goal of the night. Andrew Gavrilov would end the game with 2 goals on 5 shots, 2 on target.

Munoz would make another crucial save at the 75' mark, preserving the clean sheet and allowing Brooklyn to win it 3-0. Wilson Munoz would end with 7 saves for the game.

Up next, the Brooklyn College men's soccer team will travel for their last two games of the regular season, making their first stop on Saturday, October 18th at 12:00pm against the York College Cardinals.
