BC Women's Volleyball Pulls Out 3-2 at St. Elizabeth for Back-to-Back Victories

Morristown, NJ----Overcoming a slow start, the Brooklyn College women's volleyball team pulled out a 3-2 (13-25, 25-22, 15-25, 25-21, 15-13) non-conference win at St. Elizabeth University on the road on Thursday.  BC improves to 9-10 overall with their second straight victory while the Eagles drop to 6-12.  Next Up: The Bulldogs will look to keep their momentum going on Thursday, 10/23, as they return to conference play at the reigning CUNYAC champs, John Jay, at 7pm.

SEU jumped out to an 8-2 lead to start the match before closing out the first set with five unanswered scores.  Brooklyn responded in the second set and after three straight kills put away by Saule Okeke-Ziburkus, grabbed a 19-14 advantage and the cushion they needed to withstand a late Eagle rally.  Okeke-Ziburkus finished the match with 15 kills and 10 digs.

The home team controlled the majority of the third set, closing it out on a three-score rally.  However, the Bulldogs refused to go away and after trailing, 4-0 to start the fourth set, took an 8-7 lead following a five point rally.  Leading 24-21 in the fourth set, BC's Danielle Fuxman forced a deciding set with a kill.  Fuxman put away 12 kills on the evening.

Brooklyn would fall behind, 4-0, once again to start the fifth set, but answered with four unanswered points of their own beginning with an Olivia Fan kill.  The Bulldogs grabbed an 8-5 advantage ending with one of Ella Snobar's 12 kills on the evening.  Trailing 13-12, Brooklyn won the match on three straight scores ending on an Amra Mulic service ace.

The Bulldogs finished with a 7-3 advantage in blocks for the match.

Ruti Joshi led BC on the ground defensively, finishing with a team-high 15 kills.  She also served up three aces and set for 7 assists.  Okeke-Ziburkus had her second straight double-double, finishing with 10 digs on the night.
