BC Women's Soccer Outlasts Lehman For Second Conference Win

Bulldogs Beat Lightning for Second Home Victory

BROOKLYN, New York ------ Coming into 2025 Senior Day, the Brooklyn College women's soccer team looked to move up in the conference standings as they faced off against the Lehman College Lightning in their last regular season game at home. Two seniors were honored prior to the game in Sage Bernstein and Shakzoda Isomidinova. Knowing how important this game was for both sides, it was inevitable that it would become a battle at midfield. In the back of the home team's mind was the fact that they had not defeated the visitors since 2022, and have not done so at home since 2016. Fortunately, the Bulldogs would break that stretch to prevail and take advantage of their opportunities as they would would outlast Lehman College 4-1.

The Brooklyn College Bulldogs (4-9-0, 2-1-0 CUNYAC) bounce back after a previous conference loss to put themselves into playoff position, while the Lehman College Lightning (0-11-0. 0-2-0 CUNYAC) continue to search for their first victory of the season.

It was a battle at midfield for most of the first half, until Brooklyn would win a corner two-thirds into the first half. Alyssa Hardison would proceed to take the corner on the goalie's left, kicking a perfect pass inside the box. After a header missed inside the box, it would be Gianna DiPronio that would close it out to take a 1-0 lead at 30'.

Trying to respond back, Lehman would test Sage Bernstein at the 37' with a shot to the bottom left of the net, but Bernstein would secure the ball to keep the score the same. This would be her only save of the game before going on as a field player late in the second half.

With the small differential at halftime, the Bulldogs looked to continue to push the attack. Gianna DiPronio would begin the attack at the top of the box, pushing the ball to the right wing, where Audrey Jane Young would put a through ball to Shakzoda Isomidinova for the 2-0 score at 57'. Isomidinova would end her Senior Day with one goal, one assist, on 3 shots, one on target.

Isomidinovva would push the ball at the midfield again, finding Alyssa Hardison for an easy pass to DiPronio, putting it away for  the 3-0 score at 68'. Hardison would end the game with 2 assists and 7 shots, 2 of them on target.

Not too long after, a give-and go between Chelsea Gonzalez and DiPronio would lead her to quickly tap the ball away to Imani Dickens, who would close off the shot in style and ease to make it 4-0 at 71'. Gianna DiPronio would end the game with 2 assists and 2 goals on 6 shots, 3 on target.

Through the Lightning would get a goal towards the end on a breakaway at 84', the Bulldogs would still be able to celebrate with their families on a 4-1 victory to close off Senior Day.

Up next, the Brooklyn College women's soccer team will travel to Randall's Island Field #10 to play the City College of New York Beavers in the regular season finale on Saturday, October 25th at 1:00pm.
