Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Bulldogs Make Strong Defensive Stand, But Fall to NJCU

Brooklyn, NY----Back home for the first time since September 17, the Brooklyn College women's soccer time put on a gritty defensive performance on Friday, but eventually fell to New Jersey City, 3-0, in non-conference play at Brooklyn College Field.  BC drops to 2-8 overall with the loss while the Gothic Knights improved to 7-4.  Next Up: Brooklyn will play their second straight NJAC at home on Wednesday, 10/8, against Kean University at 4pm.

The visitors struck first in the 4' on a Lorraine Valenzuela goal.  Brooklyn didn't let down especially on the defensive end for the remainder of the half as the Gothic Knights would head into halftime with a 1-0 advantage.

Brooklyn would keep NJCU scoreless until the 62' as Valenzuaela netted her second goal of the match. The Bulldogs didn't go away and took a pair of shots that were saved that could have tied the match before the Gothic Knights added an insurance goal in the 77'.  Brooklyn sophomore midfielder, Chelsea Gonzalez took both shots that were on-frame for the Bulldogs.

Starting and finishing for the first time in goal this season, Sage Bernstein faced 31 NJCU shots on the afternoon, finishing with 14 saves .
