BC Men's Soccer Wins First Conference Game Against Hunter

Bulldogs Remain Undefeated At Home With Fifth Win

BROOKLYN, New York ------ Coming into their second conference game, the Brooklyn College men's soccer team was looking for their first victory in the conference after fighting to a draw with Baruch. In their way was a Hunter College Hawks team that had a similar result in their previous conference match. Even with how even the two sides were, the Bulldogs would breakthrough in the second half to win it by the minimum difference of 1-0.

With the victory, the Brooklyn College Bulldogs (6-4-1, 1-0-1) have now won all five games played at home, while the Hunter College Hawks (0-1-1) continue to search for their first victory in the conference.

Brooklyn's attack would be led by Georgios Koufos in the first half, striking first for Brooklyn off a free kick that forced the Hunter goalie to make a save to the bottom right corner at 12' to force a corner kick. Koufos would strike again a few minutes later, this time forcing a save at the top right at 19'.

The most dangerous shot would come late in the first half, as a ball would hit the top of the woodwork at 41', but the score would stay even at 0-0 into halftime.

The Bulldogs would continue their attack through Koufos, as he would take a shot at the bottom right that would once again be saved at 53' to send it to the corner. Koufos would shoot 5 shots, 4 on target to be a catalyst on offense.

Hunter would respond with an attack of their own, forcing Munoz to make a save for Brooklyn at the bottom right at 59'.

After several attacks being turned away, Brooklyn would finally break through as Adam Moharam would shift the attack to the left side, prompting Benedick Augustin to pass the ball over the defense as Clermens Devariste would cut across to hit a rocket for the 109 score at 79'.

The Hawks would have one last attack off a free kick late in the game, kicking a hard shot that would be turned away by Munoz at the bottom left at 83' to keep the clean sheet and secure the victory.

Up next, the Brooklyn College men's soccer team goes on the road against the John Jay College Bloodhounds on Wednesday, October 8th at 4:00pm.
