BROOKLYN, New York ------ Coming into their first home game in nearly two weeks, the Brooklyn College women's volleyball team would face an opponent they had a favorable record against in the New Jersey City University Gothic Knights. With this being a different reiteration of New Jersey City University from years past, the Bulldogs would lose a tough one in three sets [11-25, 20-25, 21-25] at home.
The Brooklyn College Bulldogs (7-10) have now dropped the last four games in the process, only winning one set during that stretch. Meanwhile, the New Jersey City University Gothic Knights (11-3) improve their record in the process.
New Jersey City would jump off to a quick 9-2 lead that would quickly extend to 15-4 early in the first set. Brooklyn would attempt to rally back, cutting it to 19-11 before New Jersey City would score six straight points to take it 25-11.
The second set would give the Bulldogs their first lead of the game, evntually going on a run of their own scoring five in a row to go up 12-10 ignited by a kill from
Chloe Siena. However, the Gothic Knights would not go away, scoring seven straight to go up 21-15 and eventually take the set 25-20.
Saule Okeke-Ziburkus and
Ayatallah Elkotby would try and ignite a spark in Brooklyn with an early 5-2 lead, as both teams would fight to the wire before New Jersey City would go up 22-17. Brooklyn would cut the lead to 22-20, but they would be outscored 3-1 to lose it 25-21.
