Brooklyn, NY---Snapping a two-match skid, the Brooklyn College women's tennis team cruised to a 7-0 win over John Jay on Thursday afternoon on the Roosevelt Tennis Courts. BC improves to 4-1 in CUNYAC (6-5 overall) with the conference victory while the Bloodhounds drop to 1-2 in CUNYAC (1-6 overall). Next Up: Brooklyn wraps up their non-conference slate next Thursday, 10/16, against Pratt at the USTA National Tennis Center with doubles play beginning at 6:30 pm.
The Bulldogs jumped out to a 1-0 lead by taking the doubles point with all three pairs winning.
Aniyah James and
Kristen Vega scored a 6-0 win at the No. 2 flight.
Oleksandra Shablii and
Anabel Greenberg also won by shutout, 6-0, at the No. 3 flight. Despite trailing 5-4 at the top-flight,
Alexis Goodman and
Medina Kuc came back to win, 7-5.
James would go on to win at top-flight singles, (6-0, 7-5). Goodman rolled to a (6-0, 6-1) victory at No. 2 singles. Kuc battled in the first set at No. 3 singles, but took it, 7-6, after winning the tie-breaker, 8-6. She would go on to win the second set, 6-2.
Joyce Benjamin stepped in at No. 4 singles and scored a (6-1, 6-1) victory. Greenberg didn't lose a game all match, winning at No. 5 singles (6-0, 6-0). Vega cruised to a 6-1 win in the first set at No. 6 singles before closing the match out in the second with a 7-5 victory.
