Purchase, NY----Brooklyn College Women's Basketball improved to 3-0 to start the season on Friday with their latest win coming at Manhattanville, 72-66. The Valiants drop to 1-2 with the non-conference loss at home. Next Up: Brooklyn returns home on Tuesday, 11/18, against Kean University at 6pm.
Leading 11-8 in the first quarter, Brooklyn took their first double-figure advantage of the game following a 7-0 run capped by a layup finished by senior guard,
Dior Dorsey. The Bulldogs ended the quarter with a 23-13 lead following a
Danae McMullen make with 10 seconds to go.
Brooklyn extended their lead to as many as points in the first half before the home team cut it down to 40-31 by halftime. BC shot 47% from the field including 60% from behind the arc in the first quarter.
Manhattanville continued to hang around in the second half, pulling within as few as four points, 57-53, to end the third quarter. However, the Bulldogs continued to have the answer in the second half to keep it to at least a two-possession game for the rest of the way.
BC doubled up the Valiants on the offensive boards, 18-9.
Junior guard,
Anna Kitch, led the way with her third straight double-double, finishing with a team-high 18 points to go along with 10 rebounds. She also came up with three steals. Junior guard,
Brianna Jackson, added 15 points to go along with 6 assists and 5 rebounds. Dorsey finished with 12 points and shot a perfect 4-4 from the free-throw line.
