Brooklyn's Second Half Push Falls Short at Wllliam Paterson

Wayne, NJ----Despite outscoring William Paterson University, 42-36, in the second half, the Brooklyn College men's basketball team fell to the Pioneers, 74-64, on the road on Wednesday night.  BC drops to 0-5 with the non-conference loss, while the Pioneers improve to 4-0.  Next Up: Brooklyn remains on the road this weekend as they travel to Mt. Vincent on Saturday, 11/22, at 12pm.  

Trailing by as many as 17 points early in the second half, the Bulldogs chipped away at the home team's lead to eventually only being down, 67-62, following a Thomas Hall make in the paint with 3:03 left in regulation.  A Tyler Gordon made jumper made it another two-possession game with 1:40 to go in the second half.  However, the Pioneers closed out the contest on a 4-0 run for the final score.  

BC sophomore guard, Joe Charles, scored the first bucket of the game and the Bulldogs jumped out to 4-1 lead in the first minute and a half of action before WPU took the lead for good beginning with a 16-4 run.  The Pioneers kicked their lead up to as many as 22 points in the first half.  Brooklyn closed out the first half half on a 6-0 run capped by a made three buried by Charles. The Bulldogs shot 24.14% as a team in the first half.  

Brooklyn was more efficient offensively in the second half, shooting 42.86% from the field.  However, the home team also shot better in the second half at 52.38%.  

WPU's bench outscored Brooklyn's 24-13.  

Charles led all scorers with a career-high 25 points while shooting 4-9 from behind the arc.  He also came up with 4 steals and dished out 4 assists.  Gordon had his first double-double of the season, finishing with 17 points and and grabbing 12 boards.  Junior guard, AJ Ahmed, provided an offensive spark off of the bench, finishing with 10 points.
