BC Men's Basketball Pulls Out First Win of the Season at Mt. St. Vincent, 69-63

Riverdale, NY----Earning their first win of the season, the Brooklyn College men's basketball team clawed their way to a 69-63 non-conference victory at Mt. St. Vincent on Saturday.  Brooklyn moves to 1-5 overall with the win while the Dolphins drop to 0-5.  Next Up: Brooklyn will look to keep their momentum going in the right direction on the road on Tuesday, 11/25, at USMMA at 7pm.  

Never trailing the entire game, the Bulldogs jumped out to a 10-2 lead to start the contest with a 7-0 run capped by a Tyler Gordon finish in the paint.  The Dolphins cut Brooklyn's lead to 13-11 after an 8-0 run of their own.  Brooklyn would eventually kick their lead up to as many as 11 points in the first half, grabbed a 39-28 lead following an AJ Ahmed layup with just a second remaining before the halftime.  

Brooklyn shot 50% from the field in the first half while limiting the Dolphins to 32%.  

The Bulldogs opened the second half up on a 6-0 tear sparked by a Joe Charles layup.  BC extended their lead to as many as 17 points with 9:22 left in regulation before the home team made one last push beginning with a 7-0 run, cutting the deficit to 60-53 with 4:51 to go.  However, Brooklyn weathered the storm in the final four minutes to never relinquish more than a two-possession advantage.  BC sophomore guard, Muneer Ibrahem, iced the game with 12 seconds to go in regulation with two makes at the free throw line for the final score.  

UMSV's paced all scorers with 23 points.  

All five Brooklyn starters reached double-figures in scoring on the afternoon, led by Charles' team-high 15 points.  He also came up with 3 steals.  Ibrahem added 13 points while knocking down three from behind the arc.  Junior guard, AJ Ahmed, added 12 points, grabbed 5 rbounds, and dished out 5 assists.  Senior forward, Thomas Hall, scored 11 points, grabbed 6 boards, and dished out 5 assists.  Gordon finished with the team's lone double-double with 10 points and game-hogh 15 boards.
