Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Bulldogs Top USMMA for Back-to-Back Road Wins, Charles Nets Career-High 30 Points

Kings Point, NY---After winning their first game of the season on Saturday, the Brooklyn College men's basketball team pulled out their second straight win on the road on Tuesday at the United States Merchant Marine Academy, 64-58.  BC improves to 2-5 overall with the win while USMMA drops to 2-3.  Next Up: Brooklyn will take on non-conference borough foe, Pratt, on Monday, December 1, at 7pm on the road.

Brooklyn jumped out to a 14-0 lead to start the game capped by an AJ Ahmed layup.  However, the Mariners responded with an 11-0 run of their own to get themselves back into the contest.  BC pushed their lead back up to eight points, 20-12, with 11:04 to go in the first half before the home team went on 10-3 run to cut the deficit to one, 23-22, with 5:25 to go in the first half.  BC held on to a 27-26 halftime lead.

Already leading 35-31 with 16:56 left in regulation, Brooklyn went on a 13-0 run including back-to-back layups finished by sophomore guard, Joe Charles, to take a 48-31 advantage with 12:52 to go in the second half.  BC would would go on to lead by as many as 23 points in the second half following made three buried by Muneer Ibrahem with 9:30 left in regulation.  This cushion would prove to be enough to hold off a late USMMA surge.

The Bulldogs kept the home team to 29.5% shooting from the field on the evening.

Charles had a career evening, finishing with a game-high 30 points while knocking down five three-pointers.  He also came up with 5 steals.  Senior guard, Thomas Hall, chipped in 10 points and grabbed 6 rebounds.  Junior guard, AJ Ahmed, added 9 points, blocked 3 shots, and came up with 4 steals.
