Brooklyn, NY----Off to their best start in a decade, the Brooklyn College women's basketball team rolled to a 76-40 non-conference victory over Gallaudet University on Saturday at home. Brooklyn improves to 5-0 with the win while the Bison drop to 0-4. Next Up: Brooklyn is expected to face their toughest test of the season on Tuesday, 11/25, against Colby College at home at 6pm.
BC jumped out to a 17-0 lead to start the game beginning with an
Anna Kitch layup on the Bulldogs' first possession of the contest. Gallaudet scored their first bucket with 4:32 to go in the first quarter.
Brooklyn continued to cruise in the first half, grabbing a 49-14 halftime advantage following an
Ameea Daniel layup with four seconds to go in the half. The Bulldogs shot just under 48% as a team in the first half.
The Bulldogs continued to cruise in the second half, leading by as many as 46 points in the final 20 minutes of the game. BC's defensive pressure forced 41 Gallaudet turnovers. The Bulldogs were also a perfect 9-9 from the free-throw line on the day.
Three Bison starters scored in double-digits on the afternoon led by Mackenzie Schirg's 14 points.
Kitch led all scorers with 15 points on 6-8 shooting from the field. She also grabbed 9 rebounds.
Sheily Quezada also flirted with a double-double, finishing with 10 points and 9 rebounds.
Dior Dorsey scored an efficient 10 points in 17 minutes of action. Junior guard,
Brianna Jackson, dished out a career-high 10 assists while grabbing 6 rebounds and coming up with 3 steals.
