Brooklyn, NY----Victors in their last two games, the Brooklyn College men's basketball team's hopes of a winning-streak ended at Pratt Institute on Monday as the Bulldogs fell on the road to the Cannoneers, 78-66. BC drops to 2-6 overall with the non-conference loss while Pratt improves to 5-2. Next Up: Brooklyn returns home on Wednesday for another non-conference tilt against Albertus Magnus at 7pm.
Trailing by as many as 18 points in the second half, the Bulldogs cut the Pratt lead to as few as five points, 68-63, following a 7-0 run capped by a
Thomas Hall make in the paint with 3:05 left in regulation. The Cannoneers responded with a 6-0 spurt of their own to kick their lead by up to 11 with 1:34 to go in the second half. An
Altin Kukaj three-point make cut the Pratt lead back to single digits by the 1:20 mark. However, that is as close as the Bulldogs would get for the remainder of the contest.
Brooklyn held their last lead of the game, 7-6, following a three-pointer buried by
Joe Charles. With the score tied, 14-14, the Cannoneers went on an 11-0 run for their first double-digit advantage of the contest with 6:29 remaining in the first half. They would go on to take a 33-22 halftime lead.
Pratt outscored the Bulldogs, 18-5, in points off of turnovers. The home team also controlled the paint offensively, outscoring Brooklyn, 62-22, around the basket. Pratt's Mekhi Davis led all scorers with 16 points.
Kukaj led Brooklyn with a team-high 14 points on 5-7 shooting from the field including 4-6 from behind the arc. He also dished out 5 assists. Charles and
Tyler Gordon chipped in 12 points each. Gordon also grabbed 11 boards on the night for the game's only double-double. Hall finished with 10 points and 7 rebounds.
