Dartmouth, MA----Despite sophomore guard,
Joe Charles, scoring a game-high 23 points, the Brooklyn College men's basketball team fell in their season opener on the first night of the UMass Dartmouth tip-off tournament to the host, 102-59. Next Up: The Bulldogs will play Worcester State in the tournament's consolation contest at 12pm.
Brooklyn took their only lead of the contest, 5-3, following a Charles three-point make a minute and a half into the game. The Corsairs grabbed a 49-30 halftime lead following a 6-2 run to close out the first half.
The home team shot 52.6% as a team for the game. Brooklyn committed 20 turnovers on the evening while UMass Dartmouth only turned the ball over eight times.
UMass Dartmouth had six players reach double-figures in scoring. Ryan Flauto had the game's lone double-double, finishing with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
Charles' game-high in scoring came on 8-13 shooting from the floor including 3-5 from behind the arc. He also dished out three assists and grabbed 3 rebounds.
Jordany Martinez chipped in five points in five minutes off of the bench.
Thomas Hall grabbed a team-high 5 rebounds.
