Bulldogs Pull Out Key CUNYAC Win at Lehman, Quezada Joins 1000-Point Club

Bronx, NY----The Brooklyn College women's basketball team earned a key CUNYAC win early in the season, defeating Lehman College, 70-60, on the road on Thursday.  BC improves to 7-2 overall (2-0 CUNYAC) while the Lightning drops to 6-4 (1-1 CUNYAC).  Brooklyn senior forward, Sheily Quezada, scored her 1000th collegiate point in the victory.  Next Up: The Bulldogs travel to #1 New York University on Saturday, 12/13, for a non-conference tilt at 1pm.

After the home scored the first three points of the contest, Brooklyn responded with a 14-0 run capped by an Adunoluwa Akinduyi three-pointer with 4:57 left in the first quarter.  Brooklyn would never trail from that point on.

The Lightning wouldn't completely go away as they cut the Brooklyn lead to 19-15 on their first possession of the second quarter.  However, the Bulldogs immediately created more separation thanks to an 8-1 spurt sparked by an Ameea Daniel three-point make.  BC grabbed a 43-27 halftime advantage following a Brianna Jackson bucket.

BC extended their lead to as many 20 points in the third quarter following an Anna Kitch layup.  Lehman would cut the Bulldogs' lead to as few as nine points on a pair of occasions in the fourth quarter, but Brooklyn answered in the call in the final two minutes of regulation, kicking their lead back up to double-digits to close out the win.

The Bulldogs shot 42.9% from the field on the evening while keeping the home team to 27.8%.  Brooklyn shot 6-15 from behind the arc as a team for the contest.

Jackson led the way with a team-high 17 points, 11 assists, and 6 rebounds.  Akinduyi scored a career-high 14 points and grabbed 5 boards.  Kitch also reached double-figure scoring with 11 points while matching a season-high in rebounds with 19.  Quezada finished with 6 points to reach her milestone, grabbed 12 rebounds, and blocked 6 shots.
