Brooklyn, NY----On a tough shooting night, the Brooklyn College women's basketball dropped a 61-38 decision to Stevens Institute of Technology in non-conference action at home on Tuesday. Brooklyn moves to 6-3 overall with the loss while the Ducks improve to 7-2. Next Up: Brooklyn will look to bounce back in conference play at Lehman College on Thursday at 5pm.
A defensive battle in the first quarter, the Ducks managed two field goals to the Bulldogs' one in the first ten minutes of play for a 6-2 advantage heading into the second quarter.
Brooklyn would trail the Ducks, 10-2, before eventually cutting the Stevens lead to 15-11 following a made three buried by
Aaliyah McCalla with 3:52 to go in the first half. The Bulldogs would go down by as many as nine points before
Brianna Jackson made it a 20-14 halftime deficit on a made jumper.
With the Bulldogs already trailing Stevens, 27-19, with 7:40 to to go in the third quarter, the visitors would go on a 15-2 run to take a commanding 42-21 lead. The Ducks would go on to lead by as many as 25 points in the second half.
BC struggled offensively on the evening, shooting 20% from the field for the game. Stevens shot 34.4% from the field for the contest. Ceejay Thomas scored a game-high 13 points and grabbed 8 rebounds for the Ducks.
Jackson finished with 8 points on the evening to go along with 5 assists and 3 steals. Senior guard,
Dior Dorsey also scored 8 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
