BC Women's Basketball Advances to CUNYAC Tournament Semifinals

Brooklyn, NY----Hosting the First Round of the City University New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) Championship Tournament on Saturday, the No. 3 seeded Brooklyn College women's basketball team rolled to a 66-34 victory over No. 6 Medgar Evers at the West Quad Center.  Brooklyn improves to 15-11 overall with the conference tourney win while the Cougars exit the tournament with a 3-18 mark.  Next Up: Brooklyn advances to the conference tournament semifinals where they will travel to No. 2 Baruch College on Tuesday, February 25.  Tip-off is slated for 5:30 pm. 

How It Happened
  • After Medgar Evers scored the first bucket of the game, BC responded with a 12-0 run that included a pair of threes knocked down by Anna Kitch.  BC extended their lead to 24-8 following a Mary Dolgin made jumper with just under a minute to go in the first quarter. 
  • MEC cut their deficit to as few as ten points, 24-14, with 8:55 remaining in the first half before BC responded with a 10-0 run sparked by back-to-back Alina Estrella three-point makes.  The Bulldogs would head into halftime with a 37-18 advantage. 
  • Brooklyn opened the second half with an 11-0 run capped by a made lay-up finished by Audrey Waldvogel, extending BC's lead to 48-18.  The Bulldogs held Medgar Evers scoreless for the first five minutes of the second half. 
  • The Bulldogs closed out the contest with their largest lead of the game. 
  • BC knocked down seven threes on the afternoon while limiting the Cougars to none. 
  • Brooklyn finished with a 30-9 advantage on the offensive boards. 
 
For the Bulldogs
  • Kitch paced a balanced scoring attack with 15 points.  She also grabbed 12 rebounds for a double-double on the afternoon.
  • Dior Dorsey added 11 points, grabbed 8 rebounds , and came up with 6 steals. 
  • Estrella and Ameea Daniel chipped in 10 points each.  Daniel also grabbed 11 boards for the Bulldogs' second double-double of the day and came up with 4 steals.
