Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Bulldogs Close Out Trip With Loss at Curry, 3-1

Milton, MA----Despite taking the first set of the afternoon, the Brooklyn College men's volleyball team would eventually fall to Curry College, 3-1 (22-25, 27-25, 25-16, 25-21), on Sunday.  Dropping their third straight match, BC moves to 3-6 overall while the Colonels improve to 4-3.  Next Up: Brooklyn hosts their Home and CUNYAC Opener on Thursday, 2/13, against conference-defending champion, Baruch, at 6:30 pm at the West Quad Center.

How It Happened
  • Brooklyn looked sharp in the first set, jumping out to a 4-1 lead following an Aaron Siu service ace.  Brooklyn would keep the lead the rest of the way despite a Curry rally halfway through the set.
  • Trailing 21-13 in the second set, Brooklyn rallied back beginning with a seven-score rally capped by three straight kills with the first put away by Siu and the last two by Joaquin Calderon.  However, with the score tied, 25-25, the Colonels mustered up a kill and a service ace to tie the match.
  • Curry carried their momentum from the end of the second set into the third, using an 8-0 run to take a 2-1 lead in the match.
  • BC battled in the fourth set, only trailing 22-21, after back-to-back scores highlighted by a Calderon kill.  However, the home team avoided a deciding set by scoring the final three points of the match.
  • Curry served up 15 aces to the Bulldogs' 5.  The Colonels hit .211 to BC's .169.
For the Bulldogs
  • Siu and Calderon put away 13 kills each.  Siu also came up with 9 digs on the other side of the net.
  • David Lema set for a match-high 34 assists and came up with 9 digs.
