Brooklyn Softball Back on the Road at Purchase in Non-Conference Play

Purchase, NY----Taking early leads in both games, the Brooklyn College Softball team eventually dropped a pair of losses in a non-conference double bill at Purchase College on Saturday.  BC fell in the first game of the day, 15-7 (5 Innings), before ending the day with a 14-5 loss (6 Innings).  Brooklyn moves to 2-9 overall while the Panthers jumped to 2-0 following their season opening doubleheader.  
 
Game 1
 
How It Happened
  • Trailing 4-0 after the first inning in Game 1, Brooklyn tied the game in the top of the second inning with four runs of their own.  The rally was highlighted by RBI singles hit by Paige Alaia-Palcios and Dasha Goodman. 
  • Purchase would retake the lead in the bottom of the second inning before Brooklyn tied it up once again in the top of the third on an RBI single hit by Melanie Millan that scored in Lianna Gonzalez.
  • However, Purchase responded in a big way in the bottom of the third inning, scoring seven runs on six hits to keep BC away for good.  Brooklyn's last effort came in the top of the fifth inning as they scored on a walk with the bases loaded and a wild pitch. 
Game 2
  • Brooklyn struck first in the first inning thanks to a Gonzalez double that scored in Millan. 
  • Purchase took their first lead of the game in the bottom of the first inning highlighted by an RBI triple. 
  • The Bulldogs wouldn't go away, scoring three runs on two hits including an RBI single by Gonzalez. 
  • After the Bulldogs kept Purchase scoreless in the bottom of the second inning, the Panthers tied the game in the bottom of the third, with a pair of runs. 
  • BC took a 5-4 lead in the top of the fourth inning on an RBI single hit by Ashley Konner that scored Millan. 
  • Purchase eventually took the lead for good in bottom of the fifth inning before ending the game early in the bottom of the sixth by scoring seven runs on five hits and a Brooklyn error.  
For the Bulldogs
  • In Game 1, Millan went 2-2 with a walk, scored a pair of runs and drove a run in.  She also scored a pair of runs and walked twice in Game 2.  
  • Gonzalez went 3-4 on the day with four walks.  She also had 2 RBIs in Game 2.  
  • Molly Martin went 2-2 with a triple in Game 2. She also scored twice on the day.
