BC Softball Sweeps Valley Forge for First Wins at Home of Season

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Brooklyn, NY----Brooklyn College Softball picked up a pair of non-conference wins on their home field on Saturday in a doubleheader against the University of Valley Forge.  The Bulldogs shutout the Patriots, 8-0 (5 Innings), in Game 1 before rolling to a     (5 Innings) in Game 2.  BC moves to 4-9 overall with the wins while UVF drops to 3-14.  Next Up: Brooklyn remains home for their next non-conference doubleheader against Yeshiva University on Friday, 3/28, beginning at 10am.  

Game 1 | BC- 8, UVF- 0 (5 Innings)

Brooklyn got on the board first in the bottom of the first inning on a Dasha Goodman RBI single that scored Paige Alaia-Palacios.  Alaia-Palacios gave BC a 2-0 lead in the second inning by clubbing an RBI double to score Sage Bernstein who reached base with a two-single.  

Goodman scored the Bulldogs' third run of the game in the bottom of the third inning on wild pitch.  The Bulldogs then rallied in the bottom of the fourth inning, scoring three runs on RBI singles hit by Vida Rodriguez and Zoey Van Vleet.  Brooklyn ended the game in fifth beginning with an RBI single slapped by Melanie Milan to score Alaia Palacios and then Goodman flied out to score Kai Leigh Magny.  

Senior pitcher, Danielle Guzzardi, was in full control in the circle, going all five innings, yielding 4 hits while striking out four Patriots for her second win of the season.  Millan went 3-4 for the game.  Goodman was 2-3 with two RBI.  Alaia-Palacios was also 2-3 with a double and scored a pair of runs.  Ashley Konner was 2-3 and scored a run.  

Game 2 | BC- 14, UVF- 4 (5 Innings)

The visitors would get on the board in the top of the first inning on a sacrifice fly.  Brooklyn responded right away in the bottom of the inning, scoring six runs on patient at-bats as nine Bulldogs walked in the inning. 

The Bulldogs tacked on six more runs in the bottom of the second inning on three hits highlighted by a 2-RBI double crushed by Millan.  Lianna Gonzalez began BC's second inning rally with a one-out single.  

Brooklyn completed their scoring for the day in the bottom of the third inning beginning with an RBI single slapped by Aaliyah Vargas that scored Gonzalez and capped by an RBI triple knocked by Sage Bernstein to score Vargas.  

Guzzardi earned her second win of the day to improve to 3-5 on the season after going three innings while striking out six Patriot batters.  Gonzalez went 2-3 and scored 3 runs.  Millan was 2-3 with 2 RBI.
