BC Men's Volleyball Sweeps Their Way to Victory Over Lehman

Bulldogs Strike Lightning Again, Break Losing Streak

BROOKLYN, New York ------ Coming into Tuesday night's conference match-up, the Brooklyn College Men's Volleyball team and the Lehman College Lightning had near identical CUNYAC records. In their last encounter, the Bulldogs were able to steal a win away from home, sweeping the Lightning in the process. Tonight would be no different, as Brooklyn College would sweep Lehman again[25-17, 25-19, 25-20]. With this match, the Brooklyn College Bulldogs (9-14, 5-5) get their fifth conference win of the season.

How It Happened
  • With Lehman trailing Brooklyn in the first set at 6-5, Brooklyn would answer by going on a 9-2 run to up their lead to 15-7. Despite Lehman's best effort, Brooklyn would take the first set with kills from Jason Lin and Armand Kaloshi for a score of 25-17.
  • The Bulldogs started the second set strong with a 4-0 run. Every time the Lightning would get close, the Bulldogs would respond accordingly, taking and keeping the lead to make it 25-19.
  • Lehman would finally take their first lead in the third set, striking first against Brooklyn, but the Bulldogs would gain it back quickly. With the Bulldogs now leading 21-14, the Lightning would go on a 5-0 run, nearly tying the game. A kill from Kaloshi off a pass from David Lema and a service ace from Ali Zandani, however, would stop Lehman's momentum. Aaron Siu and Jason Lin would close the door on the set and the game with back-to-back kills to finish 25-20.

For the Bulldogs

  • Jason Lin had a great overall game with 10 kills, 3 aces, 2 blocks, and 5 digs.
  • Armand Kaloshi attained 11 kills, 1 block, and 4 digs.
  • Aaron Siu had double digits in two categories with 11 kills and 13 digs.
  • David Lema led the way with 40 assists and 9 digs.

Up next, the Brooklyn College men's volleyball team heads to Harlem for a match with the City College of New York Beavers on Thursday, March 20th at 7:00pm.
