Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College men's tennis team rolled to an 8-1 conference victory over York College on Thursday for their first win of the season. BC moves to 1-5 (1-0 CUNYAC) with the win while the Cardinals dropped their season opener this afternoon. Next Up: Brooklyn will look to keep their momentum going in conference play as they host John Jay on Tuesday at 3:30 pm.
Brooklyn jumped out to a 3-0 lead following doubles play as
Ryan Sham and
Raymond Kazim were victorious at the top-flight (8-0),
Mujibur Shaad and Denis Shender won at the No. 3 slot (8-0), and
Allen Mardakhayev and
Aaron Brijbukhan took No. 3 doubles, 8-1.
Sham would then triumph (6-0, 6-0) at No. 1 singles. Shaad only lost a game at no. 2 singles, (6-0, 6-1). Mardakhayev also scored a straight-set shutout, (6-0, 6-0), at No. 3 singles. Shender took care of No. 4 singles, (6-1, 6-0). Kazim scored a (6-1, 6-1) victory at No. 5 singles.
