Bulldogs Take on Kenyon in Myrtle Beach Makeup

Myrtle Beach, SC----In a makeup game due to weather on Wednesday, the Brooklyn College softball took on Kenyon College in the second day of games at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic.  Brooklyn wound up dropping the single game, 11-0 (5 Innings), falling to 0-3 to start the season while the Owls improved to 5-2.  Next Up: The Bulldogs continue their Spring trip schedule on Saturday beginning at 9am against Albion College followed by an 11am start against Keystone College.

How It Happened
  • The Owls rallied for six runs in the bottom of the first inning on five hits.  After scoring another run in the second inning, Kenyon tacked on four more runs in the third.
  • BC had their lone base runner in the top of the fourth inning as Paige Alaia-Palacios reached on an error by the first baseman.  Alaia-Palacios would then use her speed to steal second and get in scoring position with no outs.  However, Kenyon's starting pitcher, Amanda Harris, was able to retire the next three Brooklyn batters and get out of the inning without any further damage.
  • Kenyon finished with 11 hits on the morning including three doubles and a triple.
For the Bulldogs
  • Danielle Guzzardi started the game in the circle for BC, going three innings, charged with 5 earned runs while yielding nine hits.  She struck out a pair of Owls on the morning.
  • Alaia-Palacios stole her first base of the season against Kenyon.  Playing shortstop, she also had a season-high three putouts on the defensive end.
