Box Score 2 Myrtle Beach, SC----On Saturday, the BC softball team played to a split, falling to Albion, 16-3 (5 innings) in their first game of the day before pulling out their first victory of the season over Keystone College, 8-5, in the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic in Myrtle Beach. Brooklyn moves to 1-4 overall on the season with the split. Next Up: The Bulldogs close out their trip with another double header on Sunday, 3/9, as they take on Penn State Harrisburg at 3pm followed by Dean College at 5pm.
How It Happened
- Albion jumped on the Bulldogs in the bottom of the first inning, scoring 11 runs on six hits and an error. The Britons added a couple of more runs in the second inning as well.
- Trailing 13-0, the Bulldogs made some noise in the third inning. Ashley Konner, Jenna Hood, and Paige Alaia-Palcios all walked to load the bases and with two outs, Dasha Goodman drove all three home with a double.
- After Keystone took a 2-0 in the top of the first inning, the Bulldogs responded in the bottom of the inning, scoring four runs in large part to patience at bat with three runs walked home. Brooklyn padded their lead in the second inning as Isabella Gonzalez stole home and Molly Martin scored Zoey Van Vleet on an RBI single. The Giants answered in the fourth inning with a pair of runs, cutting BC's lead to 6-4.
- Brooklyn extended their lead to 8-4 on a 2-RBI double by Goodman.
For the Bulldogs
- Danielle Guzzardi earned her first win in the circle of the season against Keystone, pitching all seven innings and striking out four batters.
- Lianna Gonzalez went 2-3 with a double and scored 3 runs against the Giants.
- Alaia-Palacios also went 2-3 and scored two runs against Keystone.
- Goodman finished with 5 RBI for the two games played.
