USTA BILLIE JEAN KING NATIONAL TENNIS CENTER Flushing NY----For the second year in a row, the Brooklyn College men's tennis team will be heading to the CUNYAC Championship match as the No. 2 seeded Bulldogs defeated No. 3 Hunter College in the Semifinals on Sunday, 5-1. BC improves to 6-7 overall with the postseason victory while the Hawks drop to 4-7. Next Up: The Bulldogs will now take on #1 Baruch in a rematch of last year's conference final this Thursday, 5/1, at the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing, NY at 3pm.
.Brooklyn jumped out to a 2-1 advantage following doubles play.
Maximiliano Jarry Monroy and
Ryan Badre-Hume gave BC their first win of the day at the No. 3 slot, 8-2.
Craig Pazarecki and
Ryan Sham immediately followed with an 8-4 victory at No. 1 doubles.
Allen Mardakhayev and
Mujibur Shaad battled at the No. 2 slot but were outlasted, 8-6.
Shaad bounced back in singles with a (6-0, 6-2) win at the No. 3 spot. Pazarecki followed with a (6-2, 6-0) victory at the No. 2 flight. Badre-Hume clinched the semifinal win for BC at No. 5 singles, (6-2, 6-2).
The Bulldogs were also leading in every unfinished singles match on the day. Sham was up (7-5, 4-1) at the top flight, Mardakhayev was leading (7-5, 5-0) at No. 4, and
Dennis Shender was up (7-6, 0-2) when play was suspended.
