BC Softball Closes Out Regular Season on the Road Against Hunter

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Randall's Island, NY-----Closing out the regular season on conference play on the road, Brooklyn College Softball dropped both games of a CUNYAC doubleheader to Hunter College on Saturday.  The Bulldogs fell to the Hawks in both games, 6-1.  Brooklyn moves to 14-21 (6-4 CUNYAC) after the twin bill while the Hawks improved to 15-23 (7-3 CUNYAC.  Next Up: Securing the #3 seed, the Bulldogs' best regular season finish since 2015, in the upcoming CUNYAC Championship Tournament (May 8-9), the Bulldogs will take on the Hawks first on the first day of the tournament at Brooklyn College.  Please visit brooklyncollegeathletics.com for more information on the upcoming CUNYAC Championship Tournament.  

Game 1: Brooklyn - 1, Hunter - 6

The Hawks took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning after an RBI single and runner scoring on a wild pitch.  Brooklyn responded with a run in the top of the second inning as Sage Bernstein reached on an error to score Ashley Konner who singled earlier in the inning.  The Bulldogs created opportunities throughout the rest of the game finishing with 7 hits, but left 8 runners stranded. 

Hunter extended their lead to 4-1 in the bottom of the third inning on a pair of RBI singles.  The Hawks added a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning for the final score.  HC starting pitcher, Grace Basil earned her eight win of the season, 

Lianna Gonzalez went 2-4 with a double for the Bulldogs.  Melanie Millan was also 2-4.  Konner went 1-3 and scored BC's lone run of the game.  

Game 2: Brooklyn - 1, Hunter - 6

Hunter struck first again in the bottom of the first inning, taking 1-0 lead on sacrifice fly out RBI.  The Hawks grabbed a 2-0 lead following an RBI ground-out in the bottom of the second inning.  

Brooklyn cut the Hawks' lead to 2-1 in the top of the third inning as Vida Rodriguez reached on an error to score Millan who belted a single earlier in the inning.  However, Hunter responded in the bottom of the inning, scoring two more runs highlighted by an RBI single to take a 4-1 lead.  

The Bulldogs finished with 10 hits to Hunter's 8 on the game.  However, BC left 9 runners on base to the Hawks' six.  

Konner went 3-3, going 4-6 on the afternoon.  Molly Martin was 2-3.  Millan went 2-4 once again.  Danielle Guzzardi pitched both complete games on the day, charged with four runs in the second game.
