Throggs Neck, NY----The Brooklyn College men's soccer team opened the 2025 Season on Friday, falling on the road at Maritime, 4-1. BC moves to 0-1 to start the season while the Pivateers move to 1-0 with the non-conference victory. Brooklyn will look to bounce back on Tuesday, September 2, at Sarah Lawrence at 7pm with the match being played at Fleming Field in Yonkers, NY.
The home squad scored the first goal of the match in the tenth minute. Maritime would go on to score three more goals in the first 45 minutes to take a 4-0 halftime lead.
Brooklyn would eventually get themselves on the scoreboard in the 60th minute as freshman forward,
Andrew Gavrilov, flicked one over the keeper from the left side of the box for his first collegiate goal. Brooklyn out-shot Maritime 8-6 in the second half.
BC senior forward,
Nikala Metreveli, was able to get five shots off including three on goal, all in the second half. Sophomore keeper,
Juan Carlos Solis Cazares, played the entire second half without yielding a goal while finishing with three saves.
Maritime's Carson Sadler twice on the afternoon and also assisted on a goal.
