Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | M.E.V.

Bulldogs Remain Undefeated at Home Against Purchase, 2-1

Brooklyn Defeats Purchase for Fist Time Since 2016

BROOKLYN, New York ------ Coming into their third game of the season, the Brooklyn College men's soccer team would come face-to-face with the Purchase College Panthers, a team that they have struggled with in recent years losing their last five games against them. The last time the Bulldogs had won against their opponents was during the 2016 season, and it has been ten years since the last time they had done so at home. After nearly a decade, Brooklyn College has broken their streak to take a 2-1 victory in a war between the two sides from every possible angle.

The Brooklyn College Bulldogs (3-3-0) are back on the winning side and remain unbeaten at home, while the Purchase College Panthers (3-4-0) are down to a losing record after a frustrating loss.

Brooklyn would put pressure on early, as Andrew Gavrilov would be involved from the opening minute, giving Brooklyn their first chance to score before his shot would hit the top woodwork at 5'.

However, Purchase would strike on the scoreboard first, as a corner from the Panthers would go directly on target, graze a Bulldogs defender and go into the net at 29'.

Needing a quick response, Nikala Metreveli would go on the attack from the left side, as what appeared to be a possible shot on goal would turn into an assist to Gavrilov, who came closing in to put it away for good at 37'.

It would take some time and patience, but eventually the Bulldogs would once again find their stride, as Gavrilov would take on the Purchase right back, go around him to put the ball away once again at th 64'. He would end the game with almost all of Brooklyn's shots with 7, 3 on target, to lead the offesne scoring both goals.

Up next, the Brooklyn College men's soccer team goes back on the road seeking their first win away from home as they go to Wayne, New Jersey to take on the William Paterson University Pioneers on Friday, September 19th at 6:00pm.
