BC Women's Volleyball Cruises in CUNYAC Opener at York, 3-0

Jamaica, NY----The Brooklyn College women's volleyball team got themselves back in the win column on Tuesday, rolling to a 3-0 (25-13, 25-9, 25-9) sweep at York College on CUNYAC Opening Night.  BC improves to 3-4 overall with the conference victory while the Cardinals drop to 2-4.  Next Up: The Bulldogs return home on Thursday, 9/18, for a non-conference match against Old Westbury at 6pm.

Maintaining a 9-8 lead early in the opening set, the Bulldogs set the tone for the rest of the match beginning with a four-score rally capped by an Anna Friedman service ace.  Friedman finished with a match-high 6 service aces to go along with four kills.  Brooklyn would go on another 9-0 run to grab a commanding 22-11 lead in the first set.

With the score tied 2-2 to start the second set, Brooklyn scored four unanswered points including a kill and a block put away by Danielle Fuxman.  Fuxman led the way with a team-high 7 kills and 2 blocks. Brooklyn closed out the second set with four straight scores.

Already leading 3-2 early in the third set, Brooklyn began to run away with the match starting with a 10-score rally.  Brooklyn never looked back from that point on and closed out the match on a Meadow Andrews kill.  The Bulldogs were most efficient on their attack in the final set of the night, hitting .333.

Dinora Gomez also had a standout performance for BC finishing with a pair of kills, four service aces, and a team-high 9 digs.
