BC Women's Volleyball Wins Again At Home Against Old Westbury

Bulldogs Extend Streaks to Two

BROOKLYN, New York ------ Coming into their first game at home since the very first game of the season, the Brooklyn College women's volleyball looked to return from their roadtrip in style and build momentum from their conference victory in Jamaica, New York. Fortunately, they were able to prevail over their opponents, the College at Old Westbury Panthers, in three sets [25-20, 25-22, 25-8] to send the crowd home happy. The Brooklyn College Bulldogs (4-4) have now evened their record and extended their home and current streak to two games, while also winning their sixth game in a row against the Old Westbury Panthers (1-1) historically.

How It Happened

Though the Panthers would strike first in the first set, it was the Bulldogs that would begin to pull away, taking an early 8-2 lead. Later on in the set, it would be the Panthers that would take the lead away after scoring seven points in a row to take a 17-15 lead. However, just when it seemed the Panthers might take the first set, Olive Carroll would go on a tear with a kill and serving two aces, retaking the lead 19-17 and eventually winnng the set 25-20.

Old Westbury would get on the board first once again, but Brooklyn would respond accordingly once again as they would do throughout the set, which led to eleven tied scores in the second set. With Old Westbury leading 18-16, Brooklyn would respond through Amra Mulic, who would come to the line and serve three aces during the 5-0 run to take a 21-18 lead that would not be surrendered, winning it 25-22.

The third set finally saw the Bulldogs strike first and strike hard, going on a 5-0 run again and eventually outscoring the Panthers 11-2. With the score at 15-7, the Bulldogs would once again score the next five points to take a convincing 20-7 lead before scoring another five to end the set thanks to the duo of Carroll and Mulic to take it 25-8.

For the Bulldogs

  • Mulic led in two categories with 16 assists and 8 aces, as well as
  • Carroll would lead the attack with 8 kills, 3 aces, and 6 digs.
  • Ella Snobar would have an all-around game with 6 kills, 8 digs, 1 ace, and 1 block assist.
  • Mila Servania would lead with 11 digs, while Olivia Fan would be important on defense with a leading 5 blocks.
