BC Women's Volleyball Triumphs Over Hunter for First Time Since 2021

Bulldogs Win Second Straight Conference Game

BROOKLYN, New York ------ Continuing their extended homestand, the Brooklyn College women's volleyball team pulled out an important CUNYAC victory over Hunter College on Tuesday, 3-2 [25-22, 25-17, 18-25, 7-25, 15-10]. It is the Bulldogs' first win against the Hawks since defeating them in the 2021 CUNYAC title match.

How It Happened

The first set was extremely competitive, going down to the wire. With their wide lead narrowing, Brooklyn would score back to back points to make the score 24-21. After Hunter scored one more, Brooklyn would turn to their defense as Olivia Fan would come up with a huge block to take the set 25-22.

After Hunter took a narrow 2-1, Brooklyn would go on a run once again, outscoring the Hawks 8-1. Needing to widen their lead, they would turn to Ella Snobar, who would provide much needed offense, extending their lead 23-14 and eventually taking the set 25-17.

The Bulldogs would lose the lead very early in the third set, as the Hawks would score five straight to take a 17-11 lead. Though the Bulldogs tried to close the gap, the Hawks would close it out 25-18.

The fourth set went the Hawks' way from beginning to end, taking an early 9-2 lead that would continue to grow to 21-6. The Hawks would go on to close it with the last four points to take it 25-7.

Brooklyn regrouped to start the deciding set, turning to Amra Mulic as their first setter, serving up a pair of aces to eventually help build a 5-1 lead. Eventually, the Hawks would respond, closing in at 9-11. After scoring the next three, Hunter would respond once again, but with the game on the line, it would be Fan that would put it away, this time on offense to win the set, 15-10, and give BC the victory.

For the Bulldogs

Up next, the Brooklyn College women's volleyball team remains at home against the St. Joseph's University-Long Island Golden Eagles on Thursday, September 25th, at 6:00pm.
