Brooklyn, NY---Snapping a three-game winning streak to start the new year, the Brooklyn College men's basketball fell to John Jay, 56-43, at home on Friday. Brooklyn moves to 6-10 (4-2 CUNYAC) with the conference loss while the Bloodhounds improved to 5-12 (3-3 CUNYAC). Next Up: The Bulldogs will look to bounce back at York College in CUNYAC play on Wednesday, January 21, at 7pm.
Trailing 19-11 with 6:50 to go in the first half, Brooklyn went on a 13-2 run highlighted by a pair of
Altin Kukaj three-point makes to a take a 24-21 lead. Brooklyn would hold on to 24-23 halftime advantage.
Brooklyn would go on to lead by as many as four points, 29-25, with 17:11 left in regulation before the Bloodhounds responded with a 9-0 run to take the lead for good. Adboulaye Gueye knocked down a three to cut the John Jay lead to 32-31 with 14:13 remaining in regulation, but that is as close as the Bulldogs would get for the rest of the contest.
The Bulldogs had a tough night shooting from the field, going 16-61. John Jay shot 38.5% as a team for the game.
Jamir Stewart paced all scorers with 22 points for John Jay.
Tyler Gordon, Gueye, Kukaj all finished with 8 points each on the evening. Gordon grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds.
