Brooklyn, NY----Despite winning the first two sets, the Brooklyn College men's volleyball would drop the next three sets, falling to St. Joseph's Brooklyn, 3-2 (25-23, 25-22, 22-25, 20-25, 10-15) in their Home Opener at the West Quad Center on Thursday. BC moves to 1-1 overall with the non-conference loss while the Bears won their season opener.
Brooklyn would strike first, but a quick opening run from St. Joseph's-Brooklyn would have the home team down 6-1 early on. Everytime Brooklyn would pull in closer, St. Joseph's-Brooklyn would pull away, and with a 20-15 deficit, Brooklyn would put together a 4-0 run to inch closer at 20-19.
Joaquin Calderon would lead the charge with three kills in the span to take a 22-21 lead. Despite another tied score at 22-22, Brooklyn would eventually outscore the visitors to take the set 25-23.
The Bulldogs would find themselves down once again in the second set. Down 20-17 late,
Aaron Siu would lead the charge to take the lead at 21-20. The Bears would retake the lead 22-21, but Siu would hit an ace to spark another run to retake the lead and the set 25-22.
