Men's Basketball's Hot Shooting Propels Them to Key Conference Victory Over York

Brooklyn, NY----In a game for a higher seed in the upcoming CUNYAC Championship Tournament, the Brooklyn College men's basketball took care of business, defeating York, 82-68, at home on Friday.  BC improves to 10-14 overall (8-5 CUNYAC) with the win while the Cardinals drop to 7-13 (7-6 CUNYAC).  Next Up: The Bulldogs will look to solidify the No. 2 seed with a win over Hunter College at home on Tuesday, 2/17, at 7:15pm on Senior Night.  

A defensive battle the first seven minutes of action, Brooklyn knocked down back-to-back three-pointers to take a 17-10 lead with 11:42 to go in the first half.  Brooklyn took their first double-digit lead of the contest, 34-24, following a Muneer Ibrahem three-point make.  Ibrahem gave BC a 49-30 halftime lead with another three-point make.  BC buried nine three-pointers in the first half.  Junior forward, Altin Kukaj, was instrumental in Brooklyn's runs, scoring 11 points in the first half. 

Brooklyn's stellar long-range shooting continued early in the second half with an Abdoulaye Gueye three-point make within a minute of the restart.  However, the Cardinals didn't go away, cutting the Bulldogs' 21-point lead to 65-55 with 8:25 left in regulation.  Following a Thomas Hall three-point make, the Bulldogs established another healthy lead, 72-55, with 5:01 remaining in the second half. 

The Bulldogs shot 54.2% from behind the arc for the game, finishing with 13 three-point makes as a team.  

Jonte Wallace scored a game-high 19 points for the Cardinals.  

Joe Charles led the way for Brooklyn, scoring a team-high 16 points while shooting 3-4 from behind the arc.  D'aze Hunter scored 14 points and dished out 10 assists for the game's lone double-double.  Hall also scored 14 points while knockin down a team-high four three-pointers.  Gueye finished with 13 points and grabbed 6 rebounds.
