Brooklyn, NY---Victorious in their second straight match, Brooklyn College Men's Volleyball cruised to a 3-0 (25-22, 25-15, 25-12) sweep of St. Elizabeth on Thursday at the West Quad Center. BC improves to 3-2 overall with the non-conference win while the Eagles drop to 0-2. Next Up: Brooklyn opens CUNYAC play at home against John Jay on Tuesday, February 10, at 6pm.
The Bulldogs grabbed a 9-5 lead following a three-score rally capped by an
Aiden Melecio kill early in the first set. The Bulldogs kept a comfortable cushion for the remainder of the first set despite a late St. Elizabeth rally.
Brooklyn jumped out to a 10-4 to start the second set after a 4-0 run capped by an ace served up by
Armand Kaloshi. The Bulldogs continued to control the set, taking a commanding 19-9 lead thanks to a five score rally capped by an
Aaron Siu kill.
Already leading 9-6 in the third set, Brooklyn scored fie unanswered points highlighted by a Siu kill for a comfortable 14-6 advantage. The Bulldogs never looked back from that point on and closed out the match in convincing fashion on a
Lior Amromin service ace.
Brooklyn hit .213 as a team to the Eagles' .065 on the evening. The Bulldogs also served up 14 aces to St. Elizabeth's 3 for the match.
Joaquin Calderon and Matthew Kadatskiy put away 5 kills each for the match for BC. Siu finished with a team-high 8 points on 4 kills and 4 service aces.
Miguel Trejo set for 21 assists to go along with a pair of kills. Kaloshi led the way defensively on the ground with a match-high 8 digs.
