BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The Brooklyn College Bulldogs men's volleyball earned a conference victory Tuesday evening with a straight set win over the York College Cardinals men's volleyball, 25-12, 25-10, 25-20, at the West Quad Center.
With the win, the Brooklyn College Bulldogs (7-5, 2-4 CUNYAC) improved their overall record and gained an important conference victory. Meanwhile, the York College Cardinals (1-12, 0-5 CUNYAC) continue to search for their first conference victory.
Brooklyn controlled the match throughout and finished with a .283 hitting percentage while holding York to a -.167 mark. The Bulldogs opened the match with a strong offensive performance in the first set, recording eight kills and taking the set 25-12.
The second set followed a similar pattern. Brooklyn hit .400 in the frame and used consistent serving pressure to extend its lead. York committed eight attack errors in the set as Brooklyn secured a 25-10 victory and moved ahead two sets to none.
York showed improvement in the third set and remained within reach through the middle portion of the frame. However, Brooklyn pulled away late to close the match with a 25-20 win.
Matthew Kadatskiy led Brooklyn with five kills on six attempts for a .833 hitting percentage. He added three service aces and one block for a match high nine points. Aaron Siu recorded three kills and five service aces, while Armand Kaloshi added four kills and two aces.
Brooklyn finished the match with 25 kills and 19 service aces. Ali Zandani led the team defensively with five digs.
For York, Alexis Ramirez led the offense with four kills. George Molina added three kills and one solo block, while Brian Kim recorded six assists and two aces.
Brooklyn recorded 26 digs as a team and allowed only three lead changes during the match. The teams were tied eight times.
