Box Score 2 Naples, FL----The Brooklyn College softball team completed their second of four days of games in Florida on Tuesday. In there first game of the day, the Bulldogs dropped a 17-4 (5 Innings) decision to the University of St. Joseph before also falling to Drew University , 17-4 (5 Innings). Brooklyn moves to 0-6 overall with the losses. Next Up: BC will have a day's break from games on Wednesday before getting back on the diamond on Thursday against SUNY Cobleskill at 9am followed by SUNY Potsdam at 11am.
Game 1 Recap | Brooklyn-4, St. Joseph- 17 (5 Innings)
Brooklyn jumped out to an early lead with two runs in the top of the first inning. Addy Cook singled and later scored, while Vida Rodriguez delivered a two-run single to right field to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 advantage.
The Blue Jays answered with three runs in the bottom of the first to take the lead. Brooklyn responded again in the second inning, scoring twice to reclaim a 4-3 edge.Lianna Gonzalez drove in a run with a single, and another run scored on a fielding error by the Blue Jays.
The game turned in the bottom of the third inning when Saint Joseph erupted for 14 runs on nine hits, capitalizing on walks, stolen bases, and Brooklyn defensive miscues to pull away for the win.
Rodriguez led Brooklyn with a pair of RBIs, while Cook and Lianna Gonzalez each recorded a hit and scored. Brooklyn drew sic walks in the contest but managed just three hits overall.
In the circle, Kureshma Dhanraj took the loss after pitching two innings. Jessica Bowe worked the final two frames in relief.
For Saint Joseph, Sadie Girgadsky went 3-for-3 with three RBIs, and Lorynes Suriel added two hits and two RBIs. Kaitlyn Oullette earned the win after allowing four runs over five innings while striking out four.
Game 2 Recap | Brooklyn-4, Drew- 17 (5 Innings)
Drew opened the game with three runs in the first inning, but Brooklyn quickly responded. Addy Cook started the rally with a double, and Haylee Burleigh followed with a single to put runners on base. Lianna Gonzalez delivered a two-run double to cut the deficit, and Katelyn Young added an RBI single to tie the game at 3–3 in the bottom of the first.
Brooklyn added another run in the second inning when Olivia Gonzalez reached on a walk, stole second, and eventually scored on a passed ball to make it 7-4.
Burleigh paced the Bulldogs at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a run scored and stolen base. Gonzalez drove in two runs with her first-inning double, while Cook and Young also recorded hits as Brooklyn finished with five hits in the game. The Bulldogs were aggressive on the base paths, totaling three stolen bases from Burleigh, Gonzalez, and Trinity Guadalupe.
In the circle, Victoria Elderbaum got the start for Brooklyn, working 1.1 innings. Kureshma Dhanraj provided relief and threw 3.2 innings, recording multiple ground-ball outs while finishing the game for the Bulldogs.
Drew added runs in the second, third, and fifth innings to pull away and secure the run-rule victory.
