Box Score 2 Fort Myers, FL----On Friday, the Brooklyn College softball team closed out their trip to Florida with a pair of games in the morning. Despite a late rally, Brooklyn eventually fell to Alfred State, 15-6 (6 innings) in their first game of the day before dropping their second game of the trip against RIT, 7-1. Brooklyn moves to 0-10 to start the season. Next Up: BC is on the road for a makeup with Yeshiva University on March 20 with the schedule double bill beginning at 10am at Flowers Park in New Rochelle, NY.

Brooklyn collected 10 hits in the contest, highlighted by a strong performance from center fielder Haylee Burleigh, who went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Lianna Gonzalez added two hits and two RBIs, including a run-scoring double in the fifth inning.
Alfred State (4–5) jumped out to an early lead in the first inning. After a single and stolen base by Trinity Scott, Abbie Millard drove her in with an RBI triple before Ariel Maine followed with a run-scoring double to give Alfred State a 2–0 advantage.
Brooklyn answered in the bottom of the inning when Burleigh singled and later scored on a double down the right-field line by Katelyn Young to make it 2–1.
The visitors extended their lead in the second inning when Jordyn Colvin hit a solo home run and Millard added an RBI single, pushing the score to 4–1. Alfred State continued to apply pressure offensively, scoring once in the third and adding four runs in the fourth inning to build a 9–2 lead.
Brooklyn responded with a run in the fourth as Burleigh delivered an RBI single to bring home Vida Rodriguez. The Bulldogs mounted their biggest rally in the fifth inning, scoring three runs on RBI hits from Rodriguez and Gonzalez, along with scoring on an error, trimming the deficit to 13–6.
Alfred State added two insurance runs in the sixth to secure the 15–6 final.
Kureshma Dhanraj (0–5) started in the circle for Brooklyn and took the loss, allowing five runs on nine hits over three innings. Jessica Bowe pitched the final three innings in relief.
Sydney Howard (2–0) earned the win for Alfred State, tossing six innings while allowing six runs (five earned) on 10 hits with one strikeout.
Offensively for Alfred State, Millard led the way with three hits and three RBIs, while Liana Dion recorded four hits and two RBIs. Colvin added a home run and an RBI.

Brooklyn threatened early in the top of the first inning as Haylee Burleigh worked a walk and advanced to third after two stolen bases, but RIT pitcher, Mackenzie Blair, escaped the jam with a strikeout to keep the game scoreless.
RIT broke through in the bottom of the third inning when Madison Passineau delivered an RBI double to give the Tigers a 1–0 lead. The Tigers extended their advantage in the fourth inning, highlighted by a three-run home run from Taryn Jones that capped a four-run frame and pushed the lead to 5–0.
The Tigers added two more runs in the sixth inning to stretch their lead to 7–0.
Brooklyn scored its lone run in the top of the seventh. Olivia Gonzalez singled and moved into scoring position before Addy Cook lined a two-out RBI double to left center, bringing Gonzalez home to make the final score 7–1.
Gonzalez led the Bulldogs offensively with a 2-for-2 performance, adding a walk and a stolen base. Cook also contributed with a hit and the team's lone RBI. Vida Rodriguez added a hit for Brooklyn.
In the circle, Victoria Elderbaum took the loss after allowing five runs over 3.1 innings, while Gonzalez pitched 2.2 innings in relief, surrendering two run, both unearned, while striking out one batter.
Blair earned the win for RIT, tossing a complete game with 11 strikeouts while allowing one run on four hits.
