BC Men's Volleyball Grounded at Hunter

NEW YORK, NY— Winning their last two matches, the Brooklyn College men's volleyball team fell in straight sets to Hunter College on Tuesday evening at the Hunter Sportsplex. Brooklyn drops to 8-6 overall and 2-4 in conference play, while Hunter improves to 15-6 overall and 4-2 in CUNYAC action.

Hunter secured the match with set scores of 25-22, 25-14, and 25-13.

Brooklyn opened the match with a competitive first set, keeping pace throughout and forcing multiple ties before Hunter pulled away late for the 25-22 win. The momentum shifted in the second set as Hunter hit efficiently and controlled the tempo, limiting Brooklyn to a .208 hitting percentage while taking the set 25-14. The Hawks carried that momentum into the third, closing out the match with a 25-13 victory.

Joaquin Calderon led Brooklyn offensively with a match-high 12 kills on a .208 hitting percentage, while Aaron Siu added 7 kills and a service ace. Matthew Kadatskiy contributed 4 kills and 2 blocks, and setter, Miguel Trejo, recorded a team-high 14 assists. Defensively, Calderon paced the Bulldogs with 7 digs.

As a team, Brooklyn recorded 26 kills and hit .013 for the match.

Hunter was led by Ahmed Mohamed, who posted a match-high 11 kills while hitting .529. K-Ci Akwandoh added 6 kills on a .600 clip, and Sebastian Gomez chipped in 5 kills. Setter Wesley Stubbs orchestrated the offense with 27 assists, guiding Hunter to a .429 team hitting percentage.

Brooklyn will look to bounce back at York on Thursday at 6pm.
