New Rochelle, NY----Looking for their first wins of the season, the Brooklyn College softball team rolled to non-conference doubleheader sweep of Yeshiva University in non-conference action at Flowers Park on Friday. Brooklyn cruised to a 17-1 (5 Innings) before closing out the day with a 20-2 (5 Innings) in Game 2. Brooklyn moves to 2-10 overall with the wins while Yeshiva drops to 0-9. Next Up: Brooklyn will look to keep their momentum going on the road at Valley Forge on Monday with the doubleheader beginning at 2pm.
Game 1 Recap | Brooklyn- 17, Yeshiva- 1 (5 Innings)
Brooklyn wasted no time setting the tone, plating five runs in the top of the first inning. After working multiple walks to open the game, the Bulldogs capitalized on aggressive baserunning and timely hitting. A two-run single from Jazlyn Roberts and an RBI double by Addy Cook highlighted the early surge.
The Bulldogs broke the game wide open in the second inning, scoring 10 runs on seven hits. The inning was capped by a towering three-run home run from Victoria Elderbaum, who finished with a game-high five RBIs. Brooklyn also showed patience at the plate, drawing eight walks in the contest.
Brooklyn added two more runs in the third inning to extend its lead to 17-1, taking advantage of defensive miscues and continuing to apply offensive pressure.
In the circle, Kureshma Dhanraj delivered a complete-game performance to earn her first win of the season (1-6). The right-hander allowed just four hits and one unearned run while striking out nine batters and issuing no walks over five innings.
Offensively, the Bulldogs were led by multiple standout performances. Roberts went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBIs and two runs scored, while Elderbaum finished 2-for-4 with a home run and five RBIs. Cook added two hits and an RBI, and Hailey Johnston contributed two hits and two runs scored off of the bench.
Yeshiva's lone run came in the bottom of the second inning, capitalizing on a Brooklyn error. Simone Amkraut led the Maccabees with a 2-for-2 performance at the plate.
Brooklyn's defense remained steady throughout, and the team closed out the game efficiently behind Dhanraj's strong outing in the circle.

Brooklyn once again wasted no time setting the tone, plating 12 runs in a relentless first inning fueled by timely hitting, aggressive baserunning, and patience at the plate. The Bulldogs followed with five runs in the second and three more in the third to put the game out of reach early.
Leading the offensive charge was Olivia Gonzalez, who went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBIs while also contributing in the circle. A. Cook delivered a perfect 3-for-3 performance with three runs scored and an RBI, while Trinity Guadalupe provided a major spark off the bench with a grand slam and four RBIs. Sage Bernstein added a three-run homer, and Jazlyn Roberts launched a three-run shot as part of Brooklyn's four home runs on the day. Victoria Elderbaum also homered and reached base three times.
In total, Brooklyn tallied 14 hits and drew 14 walks, capitalizing on seven Yeshiva errors to keep innings alive and the ability to continue apply pressure.
In the circle, Jessica Bowe earned the win, tossing two hitless innings with three strikeouts. Elderbaum allowed two runs (one earned) over one inning, and Olivia Gonzalez closed the game with two scoreless innings to secure the victory.
Yeshiva was limited to four hits in the contest. Aliza Feldman drove in a run, while Layla Hellman recorded a pair of hits. The home team broke through in the third inning with two runs, but could not overcome Brooklyn's early offensive surge.
