BC Men's Tennis Improves to 2-0 in CUNYAC With 5-2 Win Over Albertus Magnus

BROOKLYN, New York — The Brooklyn College men's tennis team continued its strong conference start on Saturday afternoon, earning a 5–2 victory over Albertus Magnus College at Roosevelt Courts. With the win, Brooklyn improves to 2–2 overall and remains unbeaten in CUNYAC play at 2–0, while Albertus Magnus falls to 0–1 on the season.

Brooklyn set the tone early by sweeping all three doubles matches. The tandem of Giorgi Zhamutashvili and Dylan Augustin secured a 6–3 victory at No. 1 doubles, while Allen Mardakhayev and Christopher Vasquez cruised to a 6–1 win in the No. 2 spot.

In singles competition, Brooklyn claimed four of six matches to seal the team victory. Allen Mardakhayev dominated at No. 2 singles with a straight-set win (6–0, 6–1), while James Walsh was equally impressive at No. 3, winning (6–1, 6–1). Christopher Vasquez added another point at No. 5 with a (6–1, 6–1) decision.

Albertus Magnus earned its points at No. 1 and No. 4 singles. Eric Chamandy rallied for a three-set win over Zhamutashvili (3–6, 6–3, 7–6), while Peter Keese outlasted Augustin in a tightly contested three-set match at No. 4.
