Bulldogs Win Third in a Row Over Mt. St. Vincent

Brooklyn, NY----The Brooklyn College men's tennis team rolled to their third straight win, shutting out the University of Mt. St. Vincent, 7-0, on the Roosevelt Courts on Wednesday.  BC improves to 3-2 overall with the non-conference victory while the Dolphins drop to 0-2.  Next Up: Brooklyn trips up to Bronxville, NY on Friday to take on Sarah Lawrence College at 5pm.

Brooklyn set the tone early by capturing all three doubles matches in convincing fashion. The top pairing of Dylan Augustin and Giorgi Zhamutashvili cruised to a 6-1 victory, while the duo of Allen Mardakhayev and Christopher Vasquez blanked their opponents at second doubles, 6-0. Raymond Kazim and James Walsh capped the doubles sweep with a strong 6-3 win at the third spot.

In singles play, the Bulldogs continued their dominance, winning five matches in straight sets. Zhamutashvili led the charge at No. 1 singles with a commanding 6-1, 6-2 victory. Mardakhayev followed with a 6-0, 6-1 win at second singles, and Walsh secured a 6-1, 6-1 triumph in the No. 3 slot.

Augustin was equally impressive at No. 4 singles, earning a 6-1, 6-1 decision, while Vasquez posted a 6-1, 6-0 win at fifth singles.

The most competitive match of the afternoon came at No. 6 singles, where Michael Friedman battled through a three-set super tiebreak. After taking the opening set 6-3, Friedman dropped the second set before rallying to secure a 10-7 victory in the decisive tiebreak.

Brooklyn's all-around effort showcased both depth and consistency, as the Bulldogs did not drop a single match en route to the shutout victory.
