St. Joseph's answered with a four-run second inning, capitalizing on defensive miscues to take a 5-2 lead. Despite the setback, Brooklyn chipped away, plating two runs in the fourth inning highlighted by RBI singles from Julia Corcoran and productive situational hitting to cut the deficit to one.

The Bulldogs continued their comeback effort in the sixth inning. Aggressive base running helped spark the rally as Burleigh delivered an RBI single and another run scored on a wild pitch, giving Brooklyn its first lead since the opening inning at 6-5.

St. Joseph's tied the game in the seventh on an unearned run, setting up extra innings. In the eighth, the visitors capitalized once again on defensive errors, scoring three unearned runs to reclaim control at 9-6.
