Game 1 Recap | Brooklyn- 0, Geneva- 8 (5 Innings)

Brooklyn threatened in the bottom of the first inning when Lianna Gonzalez singled to right-center and Addy Cook followed with a base hit to left. The pair moved into scoring position after a fielding error, giving the Bulldogs an early opportunity to strike. However, Geneva was able to escape the inning with a pair of strikeouts and a flyout to keep Brooklyn off of the scoreboard.

Geneva capitalized on its chances early, scoring two runs in the first inning before breaking the game open with a four-run third. The Golden Tornadoes added two more runs in the fifth to secure the victory.

Despite the loss, Brooklyn showed flashes offensively. Haylee Burleigh, Gonzalez, and Cook each recorded hits for the Bulldogs, while the team also worked two walks and a hit-by-pitch to put runners on base. Brooklyn had multiple chances with runners in scoring position throughout the game but was unable to convert.

In the circle, Jessica Bowe started for Brooklyn and struck out two over three innings of work. Victoria Elderbaum came on in relief and added two strikeouts over the final two innings.

RIT answered in the bottom of the inning when Madison Passineau connected on a solo home run to center field to tie the game at 1–1.

Brooklyn regained the advantage in the fourth inning with aggressive baserunning. Victoria Elderbaum drew a walk and Jenna Hood entered as a pinch runner. Hood quickly made an impact by stealing second base and later scoring when Jazlyn Roberts delivered an RBI single back to the pitcher, putting Brooklyn back in front 2–1.

RIT broke the game open in the fifth inning with a five-run rally. Passineau highlighted the inning with her second home run of the game, a three-run shot to left field. Carlianna Ewing and Kate Carlone each added RBI singles during the frame as RIT moved ahead.
