Brooklyn, NY----Brooklyn College Men's Tennis suffered their first conference loss of the season on Friday, falling to Hunter College, 4-3. Brooklyn mmoves to 7-5 (4-1 CUNYAC) with the loss while the Hawks improve to 5-6 (4-1 CUNYAC). Next Up: Brooklyn wraps up the regular season at home on Senior Day against Baruch College for another conference match at 3pm on the Roosevelt Courts.
Brooklyn came out strong in doubles action, securing the early advantage by winning two of three flights. The duo of Allen Mardakhayev and Dennis Shender earned a 6-4 victory at No. 2 doubles, while Dylan Augustin and Christopher Vasquez cruised to a 6-0 win at the third position.
In singles play, the Bulldogs picked up two victories but were unable to hold off the Hawks' comeback. Giorgi Zhamutashvili delivered a key performance at the top spot, earning a straight-sets win (6-2, 7-6 (7-5)) at No. 1 singles. Augustin also impressed with a dominant 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 6 singles.
Hunter responded by taking four of the remaining singles matches, including a hard-fought three-set win at No. 2 singles that ultimately proved to be the deciding point in the match.
