Brooklyn, NY — The Brooklyn College men's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to Baruch College on Tuesday afternoon in CUNYAC play on the Roosevelt Tennis Courts. Prior to the match, Brooklyn seniors, Allen Mardakhayev, Raymond Kazim, and Michael Friedman were recognized during the Senior Day ceremony. Brooklyn drops to 7-6 overall and 4-2 in CUNYAC play with the loss. Next Up: The Bulldogs enter the upcoming CUNYAC Championship Tournament as the No. 3 seed and will take on No. 2 Hunter in the semifinals on Sunday at the USTA National Tennis Center at 1pm.
Baruch, improving to 12-2 overall and a perfect 6-0 in conference action, set the tone early by sweeping all three doubles matches. The Bearcats did not drop a game in doubles competition, taking victories at No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3 to secure the opening point.
In singles play, Baruch continued its dominant performance, winning all six matches in straight sets. At the top spot, Giorgi Zhamutashvili fell to Juan Mendoza, 6-1, 6-1. Allen Mardakhayev (No. 2), James Walsh (No. 3), Dylan Augustin (No. 4), Christopher Vasquez (No. 5), and Raymond Kazim (No. 6) were also defeated as the Bearcats completed the sweep.
