Box Score USTA BILLIE JEAN KING NATIONAL TENNIS CENTER (Flushing, NY)--- The Brooklyn College men's tennis team was eliminated from the CUNYAC Championship Tournament on Sunday as the #3 seeded Bulldogs fell to #2 Hunter College in the tourney's semifinals. BC closes out the season with a 7-7 overall record. Hunter improves to 7-6 and advances to the conference championship for the first time since 2023.
Hunter took the doubles point with victories at the top slot and #3 flight.
Allen Mardakhayev and
Dennis Shender was victorious at #2 doubles, 6-3. Despite playing close matches at No. 1 and No. 3,
Giorgi Zhamutashvili and
James Walsh were outlasted, 6-4, and
Christopher Vasquez and
Dylan Augustin were also edged, 6-4, respectively.
The Hawks took singles victories at No. 4 and No. 3 before Vasquez scored BC's lone singles win at No. 6, (6-3, 6-1). Hunter clinched the semifinal win at No. 2 singles.
Zhamutashvili, forced a third set at No. 1 singles (2-6, 6-3) just before HC clinched the match. Augustin's No. 5 singles singles match was also unfinished as he was on the verge of forcing a third set, (3-6, 5-2).
