Brooklyn, NY----The Brooklyn College men's soccer team fell to CCNY, 3-1, on Wednesday afternoon in conference action at Brooklyn College Field. Brooklyn moves to 3-2-3 overall and 0-1 in conference play with the loss while the Beavers improve 3-3-2. Next Up: Brooklyn looks for their first conference win as they hit the road for another conference tilt against John Jay on Saturday at 3pm at Randall's Island Field #74.
CCNY opened the scoring in the 20th minute when Nikola Kanics found the back of the net at 19:22, assisted by Konstantinos Psomaras. The Beavers took a 1-0 lead into halftime. CCNY added to its lead in the 76th minute when Psomaras scored off a pass from Juan Lucero following a throw-in into the box at 75:07. The Beavers scored again just over two minutes later as David Caceres finished off a feed from Kanics at 77:20 to make it 3-0. Brooklyn got on the board at 85:35 when Gustav Krueger scored his fifth goal of the season, assisted by Emir Imamberdiev and Georgios Koufos.
Brooklyn outshot CCNY, 11-8, while the Beavers held a 5-3 advantage in shots on goal. Each team had four corner kicks and two saves. Brooklyn held 63 percent of possession to CCNY's 37 percent. The Bulldogs were whistled for 10 fouls to the Beavers' 16, and CCNY was caught offside three times.
Krueger led Brooklyn with three shots, two on goal, to go along with his goal. Imamberdiev recorded an assist and two shots, and Koufos added an assist. Juan Carlos Solis Cazares played all 90 minutes in goal and made two saves.
