Randall's Island, NY-----The Brooklyn College women's soccer team dropped their first match of the season on Wednesday, falling to Pratt, 4-0, on the road. BC moves to 0-1-1 overall on the season while the Cannoneers improved to 2-1. Next Up: The Bulldogs will look to bounce back at home against Purchase College on Saturday, September 12, at 12pm.
Pratt struck early and established control in the opening half. Chloe Tien put the Cannoneers on the board in the seventh minute, scoring at 7:24 off an assist from Kate Nolan.
Just over a minute later, Pratt doubled its advantage when Emma Pratt found the back of the net at 8:38. Brooklyn goalkeeper April Hartje kept the Bulldogs within striking distance with several saves throughout the opening half, including stops on shots from Josey Kanach, Esme Falk and Nolan.
Pratt added another goal late in the first half when Emma Pratt scored her second of the afternoon at 40:25, giving the Cannoneers a 3-0 advantage heading into halftime.
Brooklyn generated five shots in the opening half, with Chelsea Gonzalez and Scarlett Davis each forcing saves from Pratt goalkeeper Savannah DePaz. Gianna DiPronio also recorded two shots for the Bulldogs.
Pratt continued to pressure the Brooklyn defense after halftime, earning seven corner kicks in the second half. Kate Nolan capped the scoring at 61:41, finding the net for her first goal of the afternoon.
Hartje finished with five saves for Brooklyn while facing 17 Pratt shots. The Bulldogs were held without a shot in the second half.
Gonzalez, Davis and Aissa Santos Lopez each recorded a shot on goal for Brooklyn, while Hartje played all 90 minutes in goal.
