Hired during the Summer of 2024, Brooklyn College alum, Moaz Choudhary, begins his first season as Head Coach for the BC Men's Volleyball team. Prior to taking the helm of the program, Choudhary served as an assistant coach, helping lead the 2023 and 2024 teams to back-to-back CUNYAC Championship Tournament quarterfinal appearances.
In his first season at the helm, he coached Tommy Min to a sportsmanship sleection and took rookie Aaron Siu to a second team All-Star selection. The following season in 2025, Dion Csikortos would be voted as libero of the year under Choudhary.
Returning to his alma mater in 2022 after gaining valuable coaching experience at the high school and junior high school levels, Coach Choudhary served as an assistant coach for the BC women's volleyball team. He would help the 2022 squad to their third straight CUNYAC Championship appearance and trip to the ECAC Championship Tournament.
A four-year standout for the Bulldogs, Choudhary flourished on the court as a member of the BC Men’s Volleyball team (2015-2018). Along the way, he set multiple program records including matches started (81), total blocks in a game (9 twice), block solos in a game (7), and remains the all-time Brooklyn College leader in career block assists (119), and second all-time in total career blocks (190).
Following his junior season in 2017, he finished 2nd in CUNY in blocks per set (.75). In 2018 he improved to .84 blocks per set and led the conference in total block solos with 21 in 68 sets, which was the 4th highest average per set in the nation.
In a home match against CSI on March 15, 2018 Coach Choudhary made NCAA history, setting the all-time record with 7 block solos in a 3-set match. A stat never before recorded in DIII or DI history. He totaled 9 blocks in the game which tied the Brooklyn College record he set his sophomore year against Lehman College in 2016.
Along with his individual accolades, Choudhary helped the team to the program’s best record in 2017 and a CUNYAC Championship tournament semifinal appearance. As a senior, he helped lead the team to the program’s best winning percentage.
Coach Choudhary would be recognized as a leader throughout his time at Brooklyn. He was named a Team Captain of the BC Men’s Volleyball team as a freshman and kept the title until graduation. Following his junior year, he would earn the Ed Madden Award for Courage and Leadership, a prestigious honor given at the Annual BC Athletics Awards Banquet.
Away from Brooklyn College, he is a physical education teacher to grades 6-8. He also serves as Athletic Director and coaches the girls’ volleyball, boys’ basketball, and previously both boys’ and girls’ soccer teams. The girls’ volleyball team has won 5 of the last 6 New York City titles, aiming to complete their 2nd 3-peat. Under his guidance, girls’ soccer team also won a Brooklyn regional championship in 2019.
Prior to becoming a teacher, Choudhary was an assistant coach at his Alma Mater, Edward R. Murrow High School. There he coached both the boys’ and girls’ volleyball team for two seasons each where the girls had back-to-back undefeated regular seasons and a trip to the quarterfinals.
In his young career as a coach, Choudhary has guided 25+ former players that have gone on to play collegiate volleyball including one former player that earned an athletic scholarship at the Division I level.
Coach Choudhary holds a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and Master of Science in Sports Management from Brooklyn College where he was also a Dean's List member.
